When my husband and I were a young couple, there were no all-inclusive resorts. Choices had to be made. We had a certain amount of money to spend each day and had to be careful to stick to that budget. These choices were not always easy and costs at the resorts were quite high.
A nice dinner for two could easily top $200, even back then, and combined with a couple of drinks during the day could easily exhaust our limited budget. And there were the activities both on and off the resort that we wanted to do, and of course the shopping that was hard to resist. All of this introduced a level of stress that we didn’t want on a vacation in which the purpose was to relax and recharge.
All-Inclusive Resorts of the Past
Then all-inclusive resorts were introduced and it seemed like the perfect answer to our future travel. But, as we soon found out, not everything was as rosy as it seemed.
First of all, the inclusions were mostly meals, and not much else. And the meals were primarily buffet-type and were not of the highest quality. There are still inexpensive resorts that feature buffet dining and include minimal activities in their all-inclusive offering, but they have largely been replaced by those properties that offer much more and rely on travelers who appreciate the differences and who understand the concept of value rather than making decisions based only on price.
Today’s All-Inclusive Resorts
Today’s all-inclusive resorts truly provide a complete vacation experience for a single fixed price. Entertainment, resort activities, fine dining, and lavish accommodations are all part of the package.
For example, water sports may include sailing, stand-up paddleboards, windsurfing, snorkeling, and even diving. Other activities may include tennis, volleyball, fitness programs, and golf. There are usually evening entertainment options as well as various poolside offerings during the day.
These resorts also include unlimited top-shelf alcohol and 5-star dining. There are a wide of restaurants available which may range from French, Italian, Sushi, Caribbean, Continental or others that you can choose from each day, and of course your visits are not limited.
Modern all-inclusive resorts are the best way to have a stress-free vacation and relax in a luxurious environment in your valuable free time. Your time is your most precious asset and using it wisely in an all-inclusive resort is a good way to get the most value for it.
