The Flagship Resort of the Sandals Chain
The very first Sandals resort, Sandals Montego Bay, opened in 1981 and I have been selling Sandals almost that long. During that time I have seen many other Sandals locations open but this still reigns as Sandals’ flagship property.
And now, as of 2019, the resort has been completely renovated. It is even more fabulous and upscale than ever! It is easy to get to the Sandals Montego Bay Resort, only a ten minute ride from the Montego Bay Airport. It has always been known for its wonderful energy but now it is even better. Of particular note is the new ‘Living Room’, the heart of the resort where the evening entertainment takes place, filled with comfortable, cuddling chairs for two and plush couches.
I recently had the chance to spend a week at this beautiful property. The rooms are all wonderful, brand new and most have the famous Outdoor Soaking Tubs that Sandals is becoming known for. Many of the rooms are swim-out rooms which are becoming quite popular. Also newer resorts on the island are not able to have rooms as close to the beach as does this resort. The grounds are impeccable with beautiful flowers and trees everywhere which makes this property an even more special place..
The Sandals Montego Bay Resort has a beautiful, traditional chapel that was donated by a lady who came with her husband every year. When he passed away, she dedicated the chapel to his memory. It was a tribute to the wonderful memories they shared as a couple truly in love. Recently Sandals renovated the chapel and put in air conditioning. It is a lovely and special place to have a wedding. Sandals also recently added one of their beautiful over-the-water chapels. It does not get better for a Destination Wedding than this resort. Guests are able to get there very quickly for a short stay to attend the wedding and the wedding couple will have a gorgeous place to enjoy their honeymoon.
The resort sits on a beautiful and large, white sand beach, a great beach for walking or for enjoying a book and tropical drink in one of the plentiful lounge chairs. And the water sports are great – paddle boards, snorkeling, diving, sailing or waterskiing.
The resort also boasts one of the new Latitudes over- the-water bars, a great spot to have a drink, relax in a hammock, mingle with others or see one of the beautiful sunsets the resort is known for.
There are also many restaurants available for dinner. A recently opened Butch’s that is very beautiful and upscale specializes in steaks and seafood of the very finest quality. To have such an experience at home would easily exceed $200. The Oleander Room features Caribbean cuisine. The Bayside serves French Cuisine. Stew Fish on the beach is a seafood restaurant. Cucina Romana’s is a great Italian restaurant. Also there is Tokyo Joes for Asian and Cricketers Pub for pub food. All these are included as part of your all- inclusive stay and all are very upscale dining venues.
If you haven’t been to Sandals Montego Bay in a while, it is time to return. If you haven’t visited yet you should experience this wonderful property which has so much to offer. It is perfect for a honeymoon, a destination wedding, a romantic getaway or a birthday or anniversary celebration. It is also a fun place for a group of couples to enjoy a getaway together. Whatever your reason for visiting you will have a wonderful time at this special place.
