Uncertainty about Planning a Wedding
Are you planning your wedding during the pandemic? Or have your wedding plans been cancelled or postponed due to coronavirus? You are not alone. Many couples are asking when it will be safe to travel again. It’s frustrating because it’s hard to know for sure when things will truly open up. Being the eternal optimist that I am, I hope the resorts and airlines are correct, as evidenced by their actions. The airlines are beginning to fly into tropical destinations starting in June. Many of my favorite romantic resorts are accepting guests again in June or July. Jamaica plans to open its borders on May 31st. St. Lucia has no cases at all of Covid19. Since that is in my opinion the most beautiful island in the Caribbean, how wonderful is that!
Help with Changing Honeymoon Plans
May I add that the resorts and airlines have been wonderful about letting clients extend their travels to later dates. They have been absolutely amazing! I personally have spent many days taking care of changes for guests – holding on the phone for the resorts and airlines to make the changes my clients need. I have even tried to help many who have booked with online tour operators who are not answering their phones or have gone out of business. It is always my pleasure to help my clients and especially to do so in these trying times.
One Option – Get Married Now; Party Later!
I have heard from a few couples who are no longer comfortable having large gatherings for their weddings this summer or fall. Some have elected to have a smaller destination wedding in late summer or fall with only a few of their family members and friends present. They then plan to have a larger party in 2021 with the guests who would have attended the originally planned wedding. This is also a way to reduce costs for those guests. Since couples still plan to go on their honeymoons, it makes sense to get married at the honeymoon destination with a seamless transition between the two.
Since many of my favorite resorts offer complimentary wedding packages a destination wedding at one of these resorts is a wonderful option. Many couples add only a photography package to go with the complimentary wedding and have a beautiful and memorable experience at the resort. You will then have a stunning video of your tropical wedding to show at your celebration at home in 2021.
Resorts and Airlines Improving Standards
It is such a difficult time for everyone and we are all anxious for things to be back to normal. I believe that future normal will not be the same as the former normal. We will all take extra precautions to protect ourselves and others. Airlines are beginning to implement procedures to make flying safer in this new reality. Resorts are improving sanitary standards and taking other measures to protect their guests’ health and well-being.
We have all had to change the way we live over the last few months. Many of us have lost loved ones and others have survived this horrible virus. Hopefully there will be a vaccine for it in the future. Heaven knows so many are working towards that goal.
In the meantime, let your mind wander to the tropics…
I know when it is all over we will appreciate all the luxuries we have in the amazing world. I think we will all try to do our part to protect this beautiful earth. In the meantime I am dreaming of walking on a gorgeous beach and looking at the beautiful turquoise water. I am dreaming of the sounds of the ocean, picking up a seashell or seeing a beautiful ocean bird. I am dreaming of palm trees gently moving to an ocean breeze. I am dreaming of the colorful tropical flowers and walking the beautifully manicured grounds of a luxurious resort. I am also looking forward to the outstanding hospitality offered at all of these amazing destinations.
More than anything I am looking forward to continuing to help couples plan the wonderful honeymoon or destination wedding of their dreams. I am looking forward to continuing to be here for you when you are ready.
