What is your Favorite Romantic Destination? Why?
That’s a really tough decision. I’ve traveled to so many beautiful and romantic places throughout the world. Honestly, I really love the small Caribbean island of St. Lucia. For couples on the East coast it’s relatively easy to get there and the landscape is just as beautiful as a Pacific Island. With the ancient volcanic mountains, the Pitons, and lush tropical rainforests St. Lucia is the closest thing to Hawaii on this side of the world.
What do you like best about planning Destination Weddings & Honeymoons?
It’s a lot of fun helping couples plan their first trip together as husband and wife. Sharing in their excitement as the BIG day approaches is probably my favorite part. I also really enjoy using my first-hand travel experience to educate them on the different destinations and resorts, helping them find the perfect one for their personality and preferences.
What do you remember about your wedding day?
My husband and I had a very small service, actually at his parent’s home. I was dressed in my gown and finishing my hair in one of the bedrooms when my husband opened the door to the bedroom. I panicked because he saw me in my gown breaking the tradition of not seeing the bride until the ceremony. But, I guess all is well because that’s been more than 37 years ago and we’re still married!
Where did you go on your honeymoon?
We honeymooned on the island of Bermuda at the Hamilton Princess Resort. This was my second trip outside of the country but, this was truly when I fell in love with traveling to tropical destinations. And we’ve actually been back to this resort for an anniversary trip. It will always very special place in my heart!
What advice can you give a newlywed couple?
As you wake up each day, think what can I do to put my spouse first. If both you’re both doing this you’ll always be thinking of the others needs.
